Cheryl Miller CBE
Cheryl Miller has been Chief Executive of East Sussex County Council since 1994. She is the immediate Past President of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers (SOLACE), which is the professional association for all local authority Chief Executives in the UK.
Prior to joining East Sussex, Cheryl worked in Whitehall for 16 years mainly in the Cabinet Office dealing with Constitutional Efficiency and Personnel Policy issues. Before joining the Civil Service she read Geography (specialising in Climatology) at Manchester University.
She is a former Member of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution (serving when they produced their reports on Energy, Environmental Planning and Chemicals) and was Local Government's representative on the Stakeholder Group for the Office of Science and Technology's Foresight Programme's Review of 'Future Flooding'. She chairs and is a member of a wide range of local, regional and national community partnerships and professional bodies.
